About this bottle: Fans of Amarone will love this velvety rich red from Italy’s Veneto region. Made in the same ‘appassimento’ style – where the grapes are left to partially dry after harvesting to concentrate their flavours – and then aged in cherry wood barrels, this red is bursting with fruit, making it a great by-itself wine.

Bold, poised and elegant with flavours of blackcurrants, sweet figs and eucalyptus.

About this bottle: Here’s a great example of modern Argentinean winemaking. It’s not all about Malbec in Mendoza, but it is all about quality, the grapes lapping up the high altitude sunshine and pristine Andean terroir. We just love the purity of this Cabernet Sauvignon and its focused cassis and mint character.

Made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes sourced from well situated vineyards around the town of Haro, we love this wine’s effortless purity and elegance.

Fragrant and fruit-forward with flavours of summer berries, cherries and autumn bonfires.

About this bottle: We were really impressed with this juicy Languedoc Pinot from the hot 2016 vintage. Blending grapes from two different areas: cooler Limoux and more sheltered Cruzy, the winemakers have achieved excellent balanced, leaving the wine unoaked to really show off its gorgeous summer fruit purity.

Vintage: 2015

Voluptuously fruity and complex with flavours of dark plums, redcurrants, potpourri and liquorice.

About this bottle: This excellent Syrah blend is a real showcase for the quality of South Africa’s Agter-Paarl region. All the grapes were harvested from dry-farmed vineyards growing on loose shale soils, and the winemakers finished the blend in a combination of French and American oak for a lusciously smooth finish.

Vintage: 2014

Bold, layered and complex with flavours of dark fruits, red plums and coffee caramel.

About this bottle: The wines of Portugal draw us back time and again. This rich and seductive red is from the historic Douro valley, made from the same grape varieties used to make port wine. With portions of the wine aged in both French and American oak barrels, it offers wonderful depth and complexity.
