For boys, a linen two-piece is a casual, cooler option than a suit, especially if you choose a lighter shade like beige or pale blue. It’s tempting to put girls in a pretty dress but separates are a fun alternative – and they have the added advantage that you can mix and match textures and colours. A voluminous tulle skirt looks even more fabulous when combined with a sequined top or something velvet.

One advantage of your little one not being a flower girl is that you can dress her in pretty much any colour. Pink is a classic choice but it’s fun to choose other pastel shades like blue and green. Look for sparkly details around the waist and hem and on the buttons to give her look a glitzier spin.

Comfort is key
Weddings are a marathon day for kids, so consider this when choosing an outfit. Fabrics can be luxurious but they need to be soft and comfortable, too. There’s no point putting them in a stiff suit or shoes – they’ll be taken off before the service is over. It’s also a good idea to layer them up in jackets, boleros and cardigans, which can be removed or added, depending on the weather.
