Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent quality and fit. Managed to drag my husband to our local M&S to buy new trousers (he hates shopping) in the 20% off promotion. He was initially disappointed that M&S no longer seem to do the chinos with the pleats in the front, but after trying on several, he opted for these. Have washed them prior to shortening them and they wash and iron beautifully - lovely soft high quality material and husband says they are very comfortable to wear. They are so well made, with the little elasticated bit on the waistband and even a tiny coin pocket under the waistband. This is the sort of thing that M&S does so well - you would pay so much more for this quality elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from M & S staple My husband has purchased this product in the past and has been well satisfied. The quality is similar to the shorts he also gets. This year the fit seemed a little less roomy but still comfortable. The rose colour is great but an emerald, like the shorts, would be good. The trousers have washed well as the fabric is not lightweight but still more than suitable for holiday wear. M & S can be relied upon to come up with a decent product which will suit a large part of the purchasing demographic. Price is, I think, higher than last year but still OK. I like my husband to look smart, with a nod to trend, and these trousers do just that!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chinos I purchased three pairs of these Chinos late last year. The quality, fit and style was good with the expanding waist and the Stormwear is good for keep the trousers clean and dry. The only big let down on these Chinos is the pockets. Within three months all three pairs developed holes in both the front pockets even though I alternated wearing the trousers and only wear them for casual use not every day use. The material the pockets are made from is far too thin and unsuitable and soon develops holes. The cost of replacing the pockets is almost as much as the cost of the Chinos and would not be viable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looking for lightweight trousers in August. How silly that lightweight trousers are not readily available in August! Bought these trousers instead but thought them too warm for the second half of summer. Good quality, good waist fit, had to have length altered as 30 inch not available. When I wore them for the first time I discovered the ridiculously short zip, more than an inch shorter than my other M & S trousers. Very awkward to use, I wonder if the designer has tried them out or was it a woman?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Regular Fit Chinos For the price, I think the style and quality of material are good value for money. However as with a lot of menswear trousers the waist measurements are nowhere near that stated on the label. My purchase size 34 waist actually measured nearly 36 inches. So this pair will have to be returned and we will continue to carry our tape measure to check product sizing before before purchasing. I would recommend the product but warn about the waist measurement variation. Service and packaging is extremely good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pseudo "Drainpipes" Bought 2 pairs online (same size that I have bought from M&S for more than 20 years: 40"x29"). Very well made, but the lower leg is 40mm narrower than all my other M&S trousers (cords, chinos, moleskins, etc.). They barely slide over my lower leg: not a problem I have had before with M&S. Is this a cynical ploy to save money on material? - Or a retro-style hark-back to 1950s "drainpipe" trousers (despite the fact that they are stated as "regular fit" by M&S)? These are going into a charity bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice fit but ... I purchased these for my husband in his usual size, and like all M&S trousers they fit him really well. However they are a very thick cotton and he felt they would be too heavy for the summer, especially abroad. He also felt that they would crease badly, as even just trying them on they were showing signs of creasing. Where are the lovely lightweight trousers, I think they were called travel trousers, that we have bought in previous years?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A disappointment The zip fly length is too short to carry out gentlemanly functions. It appears to be about an inch shorter on a lot of your trousers now compared with older styles. Is it a cost saving to save pennies? If so you have lost pounds in sales, at least in my case as I returned the item. Come on Marks let's have things that fit and are comfortable to wear.
