Pure Cotton Chinos with Active Waist is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 348.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing style Having bought M&S chinos for the last 10 years or so, I am now very disappointed with the cut and style of the current season. Firstly I had to go to a larger size (even though 3 pairs my existing smaller waist M&S chinos still fit). The cut of the trouser around the seat and thigh are tighter and it is pushing it to say they are "regular fit". I would guess M&S have changed their Bangladesh supplier and they are probably saving money by reducing on the amount of cloth. The quality is still good but not the style. I certainly won't be buying anymore of these if M&S don't revert back to a trouser that I find comfortable!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't keep their appearance for long I have bought these trousers in navy for my husband for many years as they are a great fit - he especially likes the Active Waist - but they don't keep their colour or appearance for long. I wash and iron them inside out to try to preserve the colour but, for some reason, after a couple of months it fades and turns a strange orange/pink shade on the thighs. I know they aren't expensive and I suppose buying them is really a waste of money as they have to be thrown out after a couple of months but they look good when first worn. I am loathe to try more expensive M and S chinos in case the same thing happens to them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Have bought plenty of these chinos in previous years. All excellent value and long wearing. This new model is dreadful. As others have said, zip has reduced from 7" to 5" - not a good plan and fabric seems cheaper. But, worst of all, the inner lining of the front pockets is now a cheap white material ( formerly was black ). Despite having bought the usual size, now I notice, when worn, that the trouser pockets gape at the sides and reveal this tacky white lining, which looks dreadful. Clearly M&S are either using a new supplier or are trying to cut corners. Bad mistake.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from M&S size change Oh dear! One of the few things you could rely on in life was Marks & Spencer's sizing for clothing staples like basic chinos. They were a little generous compared to some other high street retailers but you could buy with confidence because you new your size. I have been buying the same size for 40 years! I think Marks have changed suppliers and the new ones have decided to save a few millimetres of cloth on every pair. I know what you are thinking "he must have got fat". But no, actually, I can still get in the old ones. A sad day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better in the store I have been looking for these in style and colour for nearly a year, you now call them "Neutral" instead of "Stone", they look "Grey" in colour on line when they are nothing like "Grey" (which is "neutral" - they are "Stone") and you describe them as "Chinos" and not trousers, no wonder they cannot be found on line !!! If I had not seen them in store and relied on your website they would still be in your stock. Stop changing things that don't need fixing please.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from White pocket lining I ordered these in both black and blue for Christmas for my husband. Whilst they were the correct length, the waist seemed a little small for a size he normally wears. Because of this, the trousers were pulling across the hips which then meant the lining of the pockets became visible. On a pair of black trousers, the last thing you need to see is a flash of white, on both sides, to show just where the pockets are!! Could I please ask M&S, that if you are going to have dark trousers, then the pocket lining is dark too. Makes obvious sense to me, and would visually look so much better. Because of this one issue, both pairs have gone back. Such a pity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from too tight around the thigh - 4cm DESIGN CHANGE I have a pair of M&S Navy Blue Harbour Climate Control Active Waist Regular Fit chinos W38 L31, perfect for office workwear. Roomy in the thigh & leg area, so provides air circulation in hot weather, perfect for climate control chinos. They were getting a lot of use so I tried to buy some more from M&S. Unfortunately, M&S had stopped making that exact model so I tried other options. New pairs of M&S chinos seemed tighter around the thigh so I measured them. Result: New pairs are 4cm tighter around the thigh than my old pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chino I have bought many pairs of these trousers for my husband over the years. The price has increased but the quality has not. There is less material now, and a big let down is the way they fade on the top front legs. I have had to throw them out just because of this. The main reason I keep buying them is for the comfort waist which he likes.
