Leather Lace-up Shoes is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wayyy too small I have been wearing the previous version of this shoe for several years now. They were cheap and comfy as anything but the quality had been going down hill badly. When M&S released this one for £20 more I bought a pair as soon as I saw them - expecting something similar. They are 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch narrower and although the sole is the same length the shoe itself is much shorter. I wear a size 12 shoe and the old ones were comfy and roomy. These new ones are at least a size too small - maybe even a size and a half. If you are going to buy these shoes you need: a. narrow feet and b. buy them at least a size too large.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low life shoes These are a quite nice looking and fairly comfortable fit shoe. However beware. Do not expect these shoes to last if you do any amount of walking. The heels on mine have worn through after only 6 weeks. I walked for approx. 45 minutes per day 5 day a week. They look to have a decent sole and heel but the material is not of a durable quality. If you are planning to buy these then only consider as a fashion shoe for light wearing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Length of Life? Just to reflect another review below, I bought these shoes in May and now (mid-November) the souls are cracked and showing significant wear. The shoes are comfortable and practical but, in my experience, they are not going to have a particularly long life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gone downhill I've been buying more-or-less this shoe from Marks and Spencer for 15 years, in recent years sold as Gibson or perhaps I've only recently become aware of the name. I've always kelp[ a black pair and a brown pair as pretty much my only shoes. They've always had their ups and downs, around 4 years ago the sole looked very lightweight but turned out to last much longer than before. Prices have gone up a lot and quality has gone down in the last few years. Gibson shoes from mid-2015 at £60 (I assume the same as still on sale here in January 2016) have turned out to be poor, with both black and brown pairs suffering cracked soles in around 7 months. This is the first time that I've had had a shoe die from a cracked sole rather than a worn tread. I won't be returning, these were great when they were cheaper and longer lasting but not now. There are better shoes available at £60 for 7 months.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dubious quality sole I've had these shoes for around a year and wear them perhaps 3 times per week and only then for one full day per week. The uppers are still going strong but the grip on the soles has worn down very quickly and one sole has split.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost casual but smart enough for 6th form! My 17 year old son didn't want "pointy toed" suit shoes with "slippery soles". We spotted the perfect shoes immediately. The waxed brown and black are also lovely but these shiny ones will look better with a suit & fulfill 6th form dress regulations. There is white stitching around the base but this can easily be blacked in with polish or a permanent marker if questioned. My son was a 7 1/2 in Clarkes school shoe, (growing room), and takes up to a size 9 in cheaper casual footwear/sports shoes so I think the M&S size 8 is spot on! The shoes have a padded ankle edge but my son thought at first that it might be a bit too "curved" into the ankle for his particular foot & he has very flat feet, however 1-2 days later and they were completely broken in with no plasters required! He likes the moderately chunky sole with quite a lot of grip. The leather seems sturdy and thick and overall the shoes seem very good quality. Only time will tell how long they last but I think I would buy these again and maybe buy my son the waxed brown ones to wear with jeans :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worn out after a few months. I bought these shoes for work just before Christmas. At the start of April the soles are almost worn through and the heels are collapsing. I walk about forty minutes a day from trains station to office and find it hard to believe that they have worn out already. This is the second pair of shoes I've bought from M&S that have failed after a few months. There won't be a third.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and comfort I have had these shoes for a month now and have worn them every day for work. I cannot fault them in any way and I am so pleased I didn't allow some negative comments in other peoples reviews to affect my choice. Comfortable, robust, well made and good looking, these are excellent quality shoes and good value bought during a 20% off special offer period. Recommended.
