The second wine of Château Talbot, Connétable Talbot is a soft and silky Saint-Julien with sweet red berry notes over floral and cedar complexities.
One of the most famous Bordeaux estates, Château Talbot is also one of the largest: a sprawling Médoc château close to the Gironde river with a magnificent 102-hectare vineyard. Château Talbot’s vineyard is one of the largest single plots on the entire left-bank, lying on enviable gravel, sand and clay soils over a sandstone and iron bedrock, which rising to elevations of 23 metres overlooking the river. The vineyard is planted 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Winemaking at Château Talbot is overseen by Lorraine Cordier and Nancy Bignon-Cordier working closely with consultants Stephane Derenoncourt and Jacques Boissenot. Connétable Talbot has been made since the 1960s; the 2014 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Connetable de Talbot 2014 offers sweet red berries, wild flowers, eucalyptus and a somewhat textured oak elegance on the finish. Drink 2017 to 2022.
