Clear Lake Merlot - Case of 6
Sorry, this item is no longer available
A deeply fruity and juicy example of Merlot, ripe and soft, with a rich dark purple colour and plenty of blackberry and cassis flavours.
This wine is an exceptionally well-balanced and concentrated Californian red, made from grapes grown in the Lodi region of the state, where the days are warm and dry, but cooled by breezes from the Pacific Ocean coming inland through the Sacramento river delta. The wine has been aged in oak, which adds a richer, slightly spicy note. The winemaker was Craig Rous.

California wine is the best!
Yes, I recommend this
I bought this wine for my son - it's a smooth wine that can be served with practically anything or even just to enjoy a glass anytime. Shall be looking to buy more wines from California.

Good but not quite as described.
Yes, I recommend this
The description states 'deeply fruity and juicy example of Merlot, ripe and soft, with a rich dark purple colour and plenty of blackberry and cassis flavours', but this is not quite accurate. I found it a little acidic and light. It is a young wine and the bottling production date on the bottle said July 2012 of a 2011 Merlot. As this ideally should be drunk within six months of purchase I think, whilst possibly past its optimum date for consumption to deliver that deeply fruity taste, this is a very palatable wine. I have decanted the last couple of bottles on the recommendation of Andy, the food store manager of my Ashton Moss branch it does indeed make a big difference. I would definitely recommend this wine. But don't expect the richness or depth of other Merlot.
