Cantina Valpantena, founded in 1958, is judged to be one of the best cooperatives in Italy. Based in the valley of the same name near Verona, it makes this classic, bespoke Valpolicella Ripasso for M&S. Using mainly local varieties, Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone the wine is made in part with the dried grape skins used to make Amarone. This “repassing” gives it extra layers of depth and flavour. Best enjoyed within 3 years of purchase.
