About this bottle: Vineyards thrive in western Sicily, nurtured by the Mediterranean sun and cool sea breezes. The Nero d’Avola grapes for this wine were sourced from near the town of Marsala (home of the famous sweet wine) while the Nerello Mascalese grape are from a higher area of vines further inland.

This wine has a bright colour with ruby tones indicative of its barrel age. The nose is a feast of red fruits complemented by balsamic notes. A complex bouquet of vanilla and striking toasty aromas. Good structure in the mouth with high acidity that is perfectly balanced by slightly sweet fruit Good persistence and a pleasant, long finish.
About this bottle: San Asensio is a ‘declassified’ Rioja area. But whatever its rating, this is prime Tempranillo country, sheltered by mountains to the north and fed by the mighty Ebro river. Winemaker Pablo Fernandez Abalos aged the wine in American oak to balance its tangy fresh fruit with toasty depths.
