Situated right in the centre of the Margaux appellation, the 28 hectare Château Rauzan-Gassies was classified as one of the Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. Dating back to the 16th century, the château has had a long and complex history, being subsumed by larger estates, then divided and subdivided over the centuries. Today the estate is doing what it does best, crafting singular wines from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged in medium toast French oak barrels for 12 months.
