Château Croizet-Bages takes its name from the Croizet brothers, who founded the estate in the 17th century in the heart of the famous Bages hamlet of Pauillac. The estate receiving special recognition at the 1878 and 1889 universal exhibitions. Today it is owned by the Quié family, who also own Château Rauzan-Gassies. Winemaking at Château Croizet-Bages is overseen by famed consultant Eric Boissenot. The estate’s large 30 hectare vineyard is a single parcel of vines lying on a classic gravel and sand soil, planted to around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is vinified in concrete tanks and aged in French oak barrels (25% new) for 12 months before bottling.
