Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 'Berardo' - Single Bottle
Product code: 00112116
Sorry, this item is no longer available
A richly expressive and youthful single-vineyard Chianti from the most southerly part of the region; well aged and ready to drink.
2012 was a hot and dry vintage in Chianti, presenting a challenge for its winemakers. This fine riserva wine is from the Castelnuovo Berardenga commune, which lies on the sun-drenched south side of the ridge dividing Chianti Fiorentino and Chianti Senese. It is even drier here than most other areas. Fortunately for Marco Bacci, his Castello di Bossi estate has some very hardy vineyards. The grapes for this wine came from its Berardo site, which sits on ancient Pliocene gravel soils over deep yellow clay – the perfect natural material for water retention. The vineyard is cultivated without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Winemaker Stefano Marinari macerated the wine for 30 days, then finished the wine by maturing it for two years in large Slavonian oak barrels before a further year in bottle. This developed the wine’s deep fruit and herb aromas and bold flavours.
