Three ways to wear spice shades

From saffron to cinnamon, we show you how to wear this season’s favourite palette

Delectable dresses

Take inspiration from your spice rack this season: intense pops of earthy colours and warm, flattering neutrals are the way to go. If you normally stick to black and navy, a dress is the simplest way to ease yourself into embracing colour, as it avoids any difficult outfitting decisions. Willing to experiment? Layer a jumper in a contrasting colour underneath.

Luscious layers

As a general rule for life, you don’t want to overdo the mustard – unless it comes in the form of a beautiful coat, in which case we’re happy to layer it on thick. Wear over a midi skirt and earthy green jumper for a look that’s good enough to eat.

Mouth-watering palettes

When putting together an outfit, it’s all too easy to default to denim or dark neutrals, but dressing within the same earthy palette means you can afford to be more daring with your colour combinations. The only thing you need to remember is to keep the depth of colour the same: a punchy yellow with an intense coral for example or, as shown here, more muted tones such as soft paprika and understated khaki. Another excuse to buy M&S cashmere in every shade.
