As improbable as it sounds, Laurent-Perrier was one of my first favourites. As a student I waitressed at an opera house and, lucky me, there was always a glut of leftover champagne post-performance. I used to sit, sipping this raspberry-scented fizz as the sun went down and the summer evening chill set in, thinking that life couldn’t get much sweeter. As an adult I’ve discovered that champagne is more treat than on-tap, but I would still invest in this cuvée rosé. Perfect to pop for a Valentine’s Day meal (think seafood if you’re cooking) or even better to give as a gift that’ll be treasured for a special occasion, I guarantee I won’t be the only one looking at it with rose-tinted glasses.
