THE PLAYFUL DUNGAREES
As well as having buckets of enduring appeal for all ages, dungarees are also the kids’ fashion buy of the moment, says kidswear editor Maggie Davis
From crib to catwalk, dungarees manage to look cool on everyone. Another of those big Nineties trends that’s gained real-life momentum since hitting the runways a few seasons back, dungarees are now essential off-duty wear for normal folk as well as style-setting celebrities such as Alexa Chung. For kids, the charm of the no-fuss all-in-one never went away – they are the ultimate rough-and-tumble wear, perfect for tree climbing and playing in the park. This short white set, with striped tee included, lends itself to all kinds of styling. My six-year old will wear them with glittery trainers and pop socks, but your girl can team them with plimsolls and an arm full of wristbands, or for a nod to nautical, add a hint of red and a straw hat – the variations are endless.
