BEAUTY MASTERCLASS

THE NEW GOLD
STANDARD FOR
FAKE TAN

Forget old-fashioned fake tanning. New innovations mean achieving a sun-free bronze is easier than ever. Here’s our pick of the best

Introducing the new ways to glow

These lightweight products guarantee radiant, feelgood skin

1 The serum: Tinted serums are an easy way to achieve a sun-kissed effect. Just two or three drops added to your moisturiser deliver an authentic hint of tanned skin. Autograph Self Tan Glow Booster Serum, £12.50, allows you to tailor your tan with the controlled dose dipper, making it easy to customise your colour. You can also pop the drops into your BB cream or foundation to enhance your base with a radiant glow.

2 The oil: The new tanning oils on the block ensure hassle-free, streak-free coverage. Autograph Self Tan Luxe Facial Oil, £9.50, is packed with hydrating ingredients that nourish skin as it works its bronzing magic. Drip the oil into the palms of your hands, rub together, then sweep over your face, ears and neck. The tan takes up to four hours to develop into a golden hue. The bonus is that the oil dries fast, so won’t transfer onto your clothing: win-win.

3 The SPF tan topper: The Filorga UV-Bronze Sun Mist, £29, is a micronised, invisible and non-sticky SPF – the ideal sun protection to use on top of your faux glow. Simply spray all over the face and neck, under or over make-up – it’s super light and won’t disturb your self-tan or even mess with your mascara. The skincare benefits include micro-encapsulated water from glaciers that refreshes and tones.

4 The blur: The game-changing Vita Liberata Body Blur, £29.95, is loved by supermodels and celebrities including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Rita Ora. The bronze body make-up perfects skin with light-blurring pigments that give arms and legs a flattering airbrushed finish – instantly. Small veins, light scars and even some cellulite seem to vanish like magic. A little goes a long way and you’ll need to use a tanning mitt to protect your hands. You can apply this formula to the face and décolletage, too. Dot the product on with your fingers and massage into skin or brush on with a foundation brush.

5 The balm: If you’re looking to quench skin all over while you achieve a tailored-to-you tan, then James Read Coconut Melting Tanning Balm, £30, available in store, is for you. Infused with dreamy scented coconut oil, the clear tanning balm melts onto the face and body, while the ‘tan tone technology’ ensures the most natural result for your unique skin tone. For a more intense shade, dial up the colour by reapplying a second layer once the first coat has dried.
