SIMPLE WAYS TO UPGRADE MEAL TIMES

Broadcaster Laura Jackson (@iamlaurajackson) is inspiring us to lay the table with #makeamealofit

This is a time full of uncertainty, but setting the table punctuates the day and makes meal times memorable and positive. It’s not about what you’re cooking, it’s about the experience and personal touches. Lighting is important – a candle makes things atmospheric, and ones in different hues will change up your tablescape. You can be playful with coloured tumblers, and glasses have many uses – from tea light holders to dessert coupes. Handwrite place names, illustrate menus and, if you have a paper tablecloth, get the kids to make it their own. Even if you’re having leftovers, put things on platters or arrange in bowls with a sprinkling of herbs or drizzle of oil to give them a new lease of life.
