Whether you’re entertaining or just relaxing, the way your home smells can have a big impact on how you feel. Follow these simple steps to bring a breath of fresh air to your interiors, fast.
1 Fling open your doors and windows. It might sound obvious, but it’s the quickest, most effective way to waft away last-season stuffiness and fill your home with fresh, clean air (and best of all, it’s free). Open all your doors and windows at once for as long as you can so the air circulates to maximum effect.
2 Wash or air out any fabrics that might have absorbed cooking smells over the winter months. If you can, have your curtains, upholstery and carpets or rugs steam cleaned, or at least freshen them up by opening nearby windows for a while. Give your kitchen sink a deep clean, and if you have a food disposal unit, run lemon rinds and ice cubes through it to get rid of any lingering smells.
