TO CHRISTMAS

Put your feet up and crack open the wine to toast another Christmas with our premium Châteauneuf-du-Pape

After weeks of build-up, Christmas Day zips past in a blur of ripped wrapping paper, Brussel sprouts and questionable jokes. In my house, it’s only post-meal, with repeats of Only Fools and Horses on the telly, that we truly start soaking up some of that festive spirit. Having a decent glass of red always helps too and, at Christmas, only the big guns will do, which is why I’ll be breaking out a bottle of our exceptional Le Vieux Gres from the most renowned region in the Rhône Valley. A rich Châteauneuf-du-Pape with hints of rosemary, cloves and cherries, it’s the sort of wine Del Boy would call bonnet de douche (French and impressive). I call it the best way to wash down a cheeseboard.
