Great brows make you look younger, plus they’re a hot beauty trend, which is tricky if – like our beauty editor Emma Robertson – you’re not blessed with an amazing set. Here, she reveals the four-step makeover that’s ended her brow envy for good

Dream of better brows? Me too. Dodgy eyebrow genes mean mine have always been sparse. But whether you’re recovering from being too tweezer-happy or if they’ve just got thinner with age, the same make-up tricks apply to bring them back from the brink. Take a look at the difference between my brows in their natural state () and my brows after a five-minute makeover (below).

Full, groomed brows are universally flattering. Not only are amped-up arches a beauty look in their own right, but they also frame the face so you can get away with less make-up. Bonus: on-point brows have a youthful eye-lifting effect – they don’t call it brow-tox for nothing.

Modern brows shouldn’t look painted on. If yours need a boost, it’s easy to fake the effect with the right products and a few insider tricks. Read the routine I swear by, below.

Boost your brow-wow

1. Shape – brush up your brows so you can see which areas need to be filled, then use small hair-like strokes (more realistic than single sweeps) with an eyebrow pencil (the best tool for optimum precision) to shape and fill.

2. Volumise – use Pur Perfecting Brow Powder or Eyeko Magic Brow Boost thickening fibres to disguise sparse patches. They sit on the skin or cling to your natural hairs so you look like you have more brows than you do. Build up slowly to your desired fullness, then comb through to blend.

3. Highlight – apply a sweep of nude highlighter under the brow arch to brighten and lift your entire eye area.

4. Set – for extra polish, set the look with eyebrow gel. It holds hairs neatly in place all day so they never look less than 100 per cent.
