Here at Style & Living we’re huge fans of fashion editor and Instagram star Erica Davies’s personal style and her no-nonsense outfit advice. Here, she shows editor-in-chief Rachel Sullivan, on Instagram as @marksandspencer_rachel, how to brighten up her wardrobe
For a no-brainer colour pop, try mixing different prints in the same shade, such as this blazer and T-shirt. “I love this blazer. The blue and white check is really fresh and the style is a bit Princess Diana,” says Erica. “I’m combining it with a blue and white striped top, and navy trousers with the same blue and white running down the side. If you don’t want to wear heels, you could also try this with either flat black loafers or preppy white trainers.”
Yellow is a surprisingly versatile colour, says Erica, and a coat is an easy way to add it to your everyday wardrobe. “This bouclé boiled-wool jacket is great to chuck on over chic golfing trousers, which have the same mustard shade running through the check,” she says. “Coral is the colour of the season and works well with mustard because they are tonally both very strong.”
“This trench coat is a lovely take on a classic, and looks great over a bold jumper,” says Erica. If you’re experimenting with colour, why not try mixing up your denim too? “Wide-leg jeans are an easy way to do winter whites as an alternative to blue denim, and we’ve combined them with some really cool ankle boots.” For an alternative look, style with trainers.
