Here at Style & Living we’re huge fans of fashion blogger Erica Davies and her no-nonsense outfit advice. She shows editor-in-chief Rachel Sullivan, on Instagram as @marksandspencer_rachel, how to style a one-piece with clever layering and accessories
“A shirt dress is one of the most versatile items you can have in your wardrobe,” says Erica. The relaxed style looks great teamed with a classic trench coat and biker boots, as shown here, or with a leather jacket and trainers. “Another option is to wear it as a tunic – unbutton the lower buttons and wear the dress over skinny-fit jeans,” recommends Erica.
“A wrap dress is super flattering on all body shapes, and particularly good if you have curves,” says Erica. “If you’re like me and don’t like showing cleavage, then try layering a roll-neck top underneath. This is also a good way to get more wear out of your summer dresses.” Erica suggests ankle boots or Seventies-style knee-high boots with a wrap dress. Finish the look with simple hoop earrings or a statement ring.
Jumpsuits remain a firm favourite in the fashion world this year – expect to see bold prints and stylish boiler suits making a big style splash. For patterned pieces like this, it’s all about simple styling, says Erica. “This floral jumpsuit is a statement all on its own, so you don’t need to go mad with the accessories,” she explains. “A pair of white ankle boots ensures the jumpsuit is the real star.”
