Instagram star Danielle Vanier reveals how to wear your favourite summer dresses before and after the weather warms up
Spring is my absolute favourite season. I love the fact you can layer and pile on accessories, plus springtime brings brighter, lighter and altogether more exciting fashion into the shops.
The key to dressing well this season is to look ahead and buy summer-ready pieces you can wear now, as well as when the weather gets warmer.
A dress is a perfect piece to layer up with a lightweight jacket and trainers when it’s cooler. Then you can shed the jacket and wear some strappy heels once the sun comes out. Swap a chunky faux-leather bag for a lighter woven version to complete your spring-to-summer transformation.
The ultimate wardrobe essential is a dress that works hard for you. Pick a classic design, like this animal-print shirt dress, and you have an all-in-one spring outfit sorted. I love that dresses are fuss-free – you can just put one on in the morning and go, without having to worry about matching separates. Just pick the perfect accessories, whether that’s a cross-body bag or this lovely circular woven tote.
In my opinion, fabric quality is essential to making you feel great in any outfit, especially as the weather warms up. Natural fabrics such as cotton and linen are my favourite.
M&S has an extensive collection of cotton and linen pieces this spring, including this pure cotton dress. It’s really wearable and lightweight, so will keep you cool. I also love how it nods to the utility trend with chest pockets and rolled-up cuffs.
