Nothing signals the arrival of British spring like the arrival of homegrown asparagus. At M&S, we're the first retailer to stock the season's first British crop of these tender green spears. Our grower, John Chinn, uses pioneering methods at his Herefordshire farm, such as cold-resistant polytunnel, to help the first green shoots of asparagus appear sooner for you to enjoy.

Asparagus with cheat’s hollandaise

Use our creamy ready-made hollandaise sauce for this classic asparagus dish, which makes a delicious starter or light lunch.

Serves 4

450g asparagus
1 lemon, sliced
A dash of olive oil
1 pack of M&S hollandaise sauce

Heat a griddle pan until hot. Drizzle the asparagus and lemon wedges with a little olive oil and griddle for 2-3 minutes each side, until just tender. Meanwhile, heat the sauce according to the packet instructions. Season with salt and pepper, and arrange on a platter with the sauce on top.
