Barbaresco Cascina Morassino - Case of 6
Product code: 00593229
Sorry, this item is no longer available
An elegant and silky textured example of a fine Barbaresco. Lovely cherry flavours predominate with hints of chocolate and floral undertones. The tannin structure is fine but firm with the added complexity of spicy oak.
The small Morassino estate lies close to the village of Barbaresco in the Langhe district of Piedmont. Its vineyards sit on favourable southeast slopes, where the Nebbiolo grape thrives. The region’s continental climate and close proximity to the Alps means vintages can be very varied in Piedmont, requiring great skill and knowledge from the winemakers to make consistently fine wines. Roberto Bianco tends this mature vineyard in much the way his forefathers have, using low impact techniques to work the land sustainably. Grapes are harvested with care and fermented gently in stainless steel. The wine is left to stabilise over winter before being matured in large old French oak barrels for around 20 months, which adds a subtle spicy oak flavour. The wine is bottled without filtering.
