Valdepomares Blanco Rioja 2012

Valdepomares Blanco Rioja 2014

This lively dry Spanish white grabs the attention with its dazzling peach and lime blossom bouquet, while the mouth-watering flavours of juicy ripe citrus fruit and soft pear spring across the tinglingly fresh palate.

About this wine:

A great example of a thoroughly modern Spanish white: fresh, fruity and unoaked with an easy-going, food-friendly nature. It hails from the famous Rioja region in northeastern Spain, but is far removed from the area’s traditional whites, which tend to be aged and rounded with oak. Winemaker Carlos López de Lacalle made this young and fresh tasting example exclusively from the Viura grape, sourcing the fruit form the Rioja Alavesa area, where the region’s highest vineyards are located.

Serving suggestion:

Enjoy this versatile white within a year while it’s young and fresh, served lightly chilled as an aperitif, or with fresh shellfish, summer salads, creamy chicken pasta and any baked vegetable dishes.

Currabridge Chardonnay 2013

Currabridge Chardonnay 2013

A medium-bodied and fruit-driven white with peach and honeydew melon characteristics. A touch of spice and nuttiness comes from the extra long lees contact in the winery.

About this wine:

The 100% Chardonnay grapes for this wine grow on 15-year-old vines planted into sandy loam with deep dark clay in south eastern Australia. Here, the grapes are harvested during the night at the coolest part of the day and the wine is then fermented in stainless steel insulated tanks at temperatures between 12 and 16 degrees.

Serving suggestion:

This wine is great with everything from traditional roast pork and chicken to everyday pasta dishes or fresh salads with tuna or shredded crispy duck.

Herehuis Chenin Blanc 2013

Herehuis Chenin Blanc 2013

Lovely golden wine with warm toast and butter aromas leading to sweet apricot, melon and ripe pear on the palate. Full of glorious fruit flavours all under-pinned by a crisp tang of lime, keeping things lively.

About this wine:

Chenin Blanc is the darling white grape of South Africa and winemaker Marinda Kruger Van Eck knows just how to harness its finest flavours. She selects grapes from 20-30 year old bush vines (their extra years giving greater intensity and aroma) grown on the deep red Paardeberg soils of Paarl. Here, no irrigation is used and all the grapes are harvested by hand.

Serve on its own, lightly chilled. Or partner with light dishes of grilled fish or chicken served with pasta or a fresh summer salad.

About this wine:

Hand-harvested from ancient chalky vineyards in the west of Sicily, this 100% Grillo has been made by winemaking duo Carlo Carparotta and Mattia Fillippi. Carlo is the local expert who knows every quirk and character of this zesty grape, and Mattia brings northern Italian finesse with his thorough knowledge of modern and international winemaking techniques.

Domaine de Mandeville Viognier 2013

Domaine de Mandeville Viognier 2014

A ripe and fruity dry white from southern France with lively aromas of exotic fruits, honeysuckle and ripe peaches. In the mouth it is seductively soft and rounded, with fresh citrus flavours and notes of spice on the finish.

About this wine:
