About this bottle: Bodega Norton’s Lujan de Cuyo estate in Mendoza has 450 hectares of prime vineyards growing at around 1000 metres up in the Andes foothills. The high altitude and long growing season develops intense colour and tannin, helping to create structured, food-friendly reds with great balance.

Vintage: 2014

A rounded and balanced full-bodied red with flavours of morello cherries, violets and wild berries.

About this bottle: Tuscany is blessed with a warm Mediterranean climate and picturesque hillsides where the Sangiovese grape laps up the sunshine. This classic Chianti is aged in large oak casks for six months to round out its complex flavours.

About this bottle: The famous Mediterranean garrigue is a type of bushy scrubland made up of juniper, thyme, rosemary and lavender. About this bottle: Australia’s Central Ranges is a cool climate region in New South Wales, located just four hours’ drive from Sydney. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz sourced from hillside vineyards at around 600 metres, where the cooler temperature gives greater balance to the fruit.

About this bottle: This wine is from Alentejo, a region in southern Portugal where vines thrive on the sun-kissed plains. Winemaking here dates back to the Romans, whose traditional style of clay-pot winemaking is still used. The wine features traditional varieties Trincadeira, Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet.

About this bottle: This wine is produced by David Finlayson in Stellenbosch from vineyards lying on steeply trellised hillsides overlooking the False Bay. The area is famous for its Honey Shale soils, a mix of red clay over granite, where vines struggle to thrive and so produce high quality grapes.

About this bottle: Orvieto, both the wine and the hilltop town that produces it, dates back to pre-Roman Etruscan times. The pretty volcanic hill, with its unique microclimate created by the Paglia valley and Tiber River, makes Orvieto a winemaker’s dream. This Classico wine is from the better hillside vineyards.

About this bottle: Slovenia’s Brda region lies in the Gorizia Hills, a beautiful area near (and indeed straddling) the Italian border. The Pinot Bianco grapes for this wine were grown on steeply terraced south-facing vineyards, where the winemaking is traditional and all vine work carried out by hand.

About this bottle: Australia’s Central Ranges is a cool climate region in New South Wales, located just a four hours’ drive from Sydney. This wine is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in hillside vineyards at around 600 metres. Winemaker Debbie Lauritz, a cool climate specialist, used no oak to mature this Chardonnay.

About this bottle: It’s believed that Viognier originated somewhere in Croatia, but it’s certainly made its home in France’s northern Rhône valley, where it reaches its apogee in the complex wines of Condrieu. Here, the grape is grown in sun-kissed vineyards near Minervois, where the fruit ripens beautifully.
