    Lacustre Chardonnay

    Vintage: 2014

Lacustre but not lacklustre, this sophisticated Chardonnay offers floral and stone fruit qualities over an elegant palate balancing mineral notes with a pleasantly buttery finish.

About this bottle: This delicious Chardonnay comes from Limoux, a town on the Aude river in France’s sunny Languedoc region. According to wine historians, Limoux is most famous for being the birthplace of sparkling wine. For this dry white however, winemaker Gilles Tremeges took a more traditional approach, sourcing hand-picked Chardonnay grapes from hillside vineyards that are farmed using sustainable viticultural techniques. The grapes were pressed in whole bunches and aged for several months on their lees to develop the wine’s character. No oak maturation was used.

Bodega Piedra Negra Alta Coleccion Torrontés

    Vintage: 2015

Pale yellow with a silvery glint, this Torrontés has a captivating bouquet of fresh white flowers and ripe Mediterranean fruit. The palate is balanced and fresh, with a lovely floral finish.

About this bottle: This refreshing white comes from the southern Mendoza region in Argentina, a pristine area in the foothills of the Andes mountains where climate and geology dovetail to make a haven for the cultivation of vines. The grapes for this wine were sourced from vineyards located on a high plateau, where the sun’s UV rays are stronger and so ripen the grapes more thoroughly, while the cold nights help develop good acidity structure. Winemakers Francois Lurton and Thibault Lepotre combined their considerable expertise to craft a delicately balanced, blissfully aromatic Torrontés.

Soave Classico Superiore DOCG Terre Sceligere

    Vintage: 2013

A classic Soave with honeyed peach and herbal aromas, plus that characteristic ‘blanched almond’ note. The complex palate balances a beeswax richness with zingy citrus flavours.

About this bottle: The Cantina di Monteforte co-op have 1,200 hectares of vineyards across Soave, including some in the best vineyard spots within the Classico zone. 60% of their vines lie on south-facing hills, where the grapes enjoy the best exposure, with cooling breezes from the Dolomites helping the grapes develop their aromatic qualities. Winemaker Gaetano Scaligeri’s knowledge of the Soave terroir is unparalleled. Sourcing grapes from a single vineyard on the Montegrande slope, Gaetano used a special press to gently crush the fruit and fermented the must in small barrels for around a year to develop the wine’s complexity.

    Lorimer Semillon Sauvignon

    Vintage: 2015

A full and zesty dry white with topical fruit, sunny citrus and fresh cut grass aromas. The palate offers mouthwatering lime and passion fruit flavours across its lengthy finish.

About this bottle: Australia’s Riverina region has been producing exceptional varietal wines in recent years. 2014 saw a very hot growing season in this inland area, and winemaker John Coghlan had to work hard to pick the grapes for this wine as quickly as possible once optimum ripeness was achieved. John wanted to capture both the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes with the perfect balance between fruit richness and fresh balance, and favoured a hands-off approach in winery, believing the less intervention in the process of crushing and fermenting the grapes the better the finished wine will be.

    Aliwen Sauvignon Blanc

    Vintage: 2014

A pale, green-hued sauvignon with intense grapefruit, passion fruit and lime aromas. The palate is crisp and zesty, with a refreshing acidity that balances the full-on fruitiness.

About this bottle: This complex Sauvignon Blanc blends grapes from two distinct vineyard areas of Chile. The grapes sourced from cool, coastal Leyda provide plenty of freshness and bright citrus notes, with some of that classic asparagus and gooseberry quality. On the other hand, grapes from the much warmer Curicó area provide texture and the wine’s luscious mid-palate richness. All the grapes were hand-harvested, and winemaker Carlos Concha carefully fermented the fruit at cool temperatures to extract its full character.
