Need x-short even if you're 5'4"!After ordering practically every variation of style, length, size and colour available at M & S, I've settled on a pair from this range! The navy are so dark as to be almost black though and the short are the same length as the short in the non-petite offering of the same trousers, so even at 5'4" they are too long for me. The extra short however sit just on my ankle - just the right length. Extremely comfortable and give a good silhouette due to there being no bulky waistband or fastenings - just pull on. I do think they're a tad pricey so I'll wait till there's a promotion before buying any more.

At last the correct lengthI used to buy these trousers in standard fit short length but over the years this 'short' length has got longer and longer. I ordered the short petite trousers only to find they were the same length as the short standard! Returned them and ordered the extra short. At last the right length. As these trousers are only available on-line please give us an inside leg and a waist to hem measurement please. I have also noticed, over the years, that the quality of material has deteriorated. Still a comfortable and easy to wear trouser but a return to a better fabric would be appreciated.

DisappointedI have always bought regular trousers with short length. Suddenly they are now too long. I was told to buy petite. I ordered short as I am 5ft 3ins and I assumed it was the top end of petite. I received the trousers to find that they are the same length as regular. Also the petite line is minimal. I shall now have to look elsewhere for trousers. I would have been quite happy with the goods if they had been the right length.
Please return the "regular" trousers to the original short length.
I would only recommend them to tall friends.

Very happyI have been buying these trousers for years. Personally I like them as something comfortable to wear around the house. I used to buy short length from the standard range, but along with many other reviewers, I have found that these are now too long. I thought that I would try the extra short length and these are ideal to wear with flip flops, flat shoes etc. I am 4 ft 11. I think they are a tad expensive at full price, but they are a good basic product so I hope M&S will continue to keep the extra short range well stocked! The trousers are a quite thick jersey type material. More choice of trousers in extra short would be welcome now that the short standard range is no longer any good for a lot of us.

SHORT! - No way!I,also, have bought these trousers for many years, they are so comfortable and hang very elegantly, unfortunately the last pair I have ordered are 29 inches in length, despite having the "short" labels attached as the material is difficult to sew and they never look as good as before when shortened I am reluctant to shorten them. Please can somebody in the organisation sort out the lengths so that customers know which which length to order.

Womens extra short wide leg trousersThese fitted on waist but at least 2" too long although marked extra short. I am 4'11 and in the past the extra short trousers fitted perfectly. I don't understand the reason for making these longer now. There are a lot of small women like me out there who can no longer buy M&S trousers and very few shops cater for us. M&S are surely missing out on this market.

Petite fit far too long!I have had a similar pair of trousers from M&S that I have worn for many years and loved them. Sadly, I spilt some bleach on them.
I was pleased to find a similar pair on the website and ordered a short petite and short normal to be on the safe side. I was very dismayed when I received them to find that the petite fit and normal fit were exactly the same size and length. What is the purpose of marketing them as a petite fit? Also, when I checked the information again online, it stated on the petite description that the model was 5'9". Why do M&S use a tall person to model the petite fit when the range is meant to be for ladies who are 5'3" and under? It just doesn't make sense and is very misleading, especially if you are only about 4'11" and the short length in petite has previously fitted perfectly!
When I bought them, I had a voucher for 20% off. As I can only order petite online, it means I can't get the 20% off if I now order an extra short pair of trousers.

The "blue" is actually blackThe "extra short" length fits fine on me (5' 1") and they're a nice draping jersey fabric. But the so-called blue colour is actually much closer to black.
If you're shorter than average, you won't get the chance to try these on in-store because the "extra short" length is only available online. (I guess short women don't deserve the option of trying things on?) But you can get an idea of what they're like by looking at the pull-on wide-leg trousers in the regular range, which are identical. When you look at the "blue" and the black side by side it's almost impossible to tell the difference unless it's in really good daylight.
I'm happy with the trousers overall but, like many others customer, seriously annoyed that M&S has made its "short" length longer and made the range of clothes in the "extra short" length so limited. Shorter women are such a big part of the customer base and we're just going to go elsewhere now!
