OXFORD SHIRTSI have always purchased these shirts from M & S due to the hard wearing and good quality product. As my wife had a 20% discount card I decided (after a year of waiting for these items to be in a sale )to replace some of my warn stock. The quality has certainly changed. The shirt size seems to be a bit on the larger size. The 15 and a half collar size resembles a 16" collar.Three new shirts were purchased,I have opened one and I am considering if I should return the other two, seeking replacements from else where. After all these years of purchasing M&S clothing, there has definitely been a quality change in the material.

Worse MaterialHave been buying Oxford shirts from M&S for about 20 years. One or two years back they changed the material of the shirt, and now it feels a lot more slippery and much less comfortable to wear. M&S seem happy to mess around with established lines (making them less reliable than they used to be). I'm keeping an eye on this shirt and when the label looks different once again I may repurchase to see if they have kept the current poor quality material or returned to the superior past weave (I have all the shirts side by side and so it's not just my memory of the past and my family all agree that the new material feels much worse).

Smart, but not crushingly so,This was bought as a smart-casual alternative at a wedding. Positives are that it perfectly fits the bill and me, negatives are that i already had an M and S Shirt in this size that no longer fitted me! How could this be? I found the older 16.5" collar was at least .75" smaller than the new one, aproblem I had recgnised wth your trousers too. Your industry has to recognise size in clothing needs to be constant as our sizes aren't! We need to know our size so we can pop in and pick a something up knowing that, if we chose the size we know we are, it fits. At present, we can't, we buy in hope.

Beware of the collar 'button down' buttonsWhen trying the shirt on it was obvious something was not quite right with the way the collar was laying. One side seemed different to the other. On closer inspection it was found that the 'button down' buttons were not in the same relative position, causing one side of the collar to pucker whilst the other lay correctly. Visiting a store this weekend, the ones on display also had this same fault. M & S need to talk to the supplier and get this rectified as the shirt is otherwise excellent and if this was to be sorted I would happily buy it.

It's a white shirt.....A plain white Oxford shirt at a reasonable price is a bit like the Holy Grail – this is currently about as close as you will get.
Reason I say currently is M&S have also sold in the past an Oxford shirt in a slightly better feel of cotton.
But that’s nit picking – when on, feel OK, you can snip the cuff button off to wear with cufflinks (which I always do).
They last better than shirts costing X2 the price and iron well (or so I’m told) – I’ve always got 6 in the wardrobe and have had for best part of 20 years (not the same ones, they last well, but not that long) - recommend

Expensive one wear shirt. My husband bought this shirt for a wedding, as his previous one is now very old. I washed it in accordance with the instructions, (using fabric softener as it seemed very stiff), prior to wear. It fitted well and looked smart, but, after only a couple of hours in, it was rubbing my husband's neck quite badly. By the end of the day, he couldn't wait to take it off and his neck was very red and sore. This is very unusual, as he has quite tough skin. The previous shirt of the same design was worn many times without problems and was very comfortable, hence the decision to buy the same again. The problem seems to be the seam running around the inside of the collar, which rubs on the skin. An expensive mistake for one wear!

All I wanted was a plain blue shirtAll I wanted was a plain dark blue shirt. I ordered the shirt online. I didn't want a shirt that was made of an unpleasant two tone shiny fabric which is what I found when I opened the packaging. Returned for refund.
More effort could be made to make the description and photographs relate to the actual product.
Some of us actually like plain clothes. This is not the first time I have had to return something to M&S for something like this.

So Good I Bought ThreeThis is perfect. I had been looking for a good button-down Oxford shirt but was not going to pay a premium for having a logo on the chest. I have had designer Oxfords before and I must say that this shirt is as good, if not better than any of them.
I bought one in store and then ordered another two on line. Unfortunately they only come in blue or white, it would be great to have a wider range of colours such as pink and pale green.
