A wonderfully succulent, sunny white with engaging flavours of peach, pineapple and a hint of white pepper on the finish. This clean, unoaked style of modern Sicilian white makes for ideal everyday drinking.

About this bottle: Western Sicily is a land of parched, sun-drenched hillsides steeped in history, where vines are a familiar part of the scenery. The Catarratto variety is used not only for the local speciality Marsala but also to make excellent dry white wines such as this. We have worked closely with Claudio Manera to create this ripe, versatile white which we feel offers outstanding value for money.

Garganega Pinot Grigio

Vintage: 2011

A daring duo elegantly of spicy Pinot Grigio, with lychee, white peach and star anise aromas making a racy greeting. Then contrasting nutty Garganega stepping forward with its almondy baked apple fruit, fine bone-dry texture and deeply tangy presence on the palate. These two grapes bring both style and food-matchability to the glass.

About this bottle: Claudio Manera blends 80% Garganega and 20% Pinot Gris together taking great care to balance the flavours of these two grapes. He keeps them for three months on their fine lees to create a really spicy texture. The grapes are grown in the Vicenza region of the Veneto - an area famed for its moreish dry white wines.

A crisp and easy-drinking dry white with green apple, white flower and fresh citrus notes over a lemony, lightly honeyed palate.

About this bottle: Northeast Italy’s Venezie region is one of the country’s most famous appellations, due to the popularity of its never-ending flow of light and crisp Pinot Grigio wines. This example takes the classic Venezie Pinot Grigio one step further, blending it with the area’s other famou white grape, the late-ripening Garganega, to add a deeper layer of weight and fruity richness to the wine.

Gazzera Pinot Grigio

Vintage: 2011

Fragrant, grapefruity white, brimming with peach and pepper aromatics. There's a real zing of citrus on the palate too, with black pepper, crunchy green apples and a nervy tang of liquorice and minerals at the finish. This is Pinot Grigio with a serious side, and plenty of structure for matching with food.

About this bottle: Pinot Grigio found fame in northern Italy but this delicious white proves that this sprightly grape variety can be just as at home in the sunny south - in Sicily. Winemakers Carlo Caprarotta and Mattia Filippi combine their skills and knowledge of the local countryside to make it really shine. They plant on soils high in gypsum which bring out this grape's minerality. Carlo and Mattia are keen to represent this territory and all its wine traditions, so they have named their wines 'Gazzera' after an ancient baglio, or rural house, in the district.

Gazzera Grillo

Vintage: 2013

Starting with gentle yellow-flower aromas, then simple butter-and-almond fruit on the palate, this powerful white quickly builds to a real boldness of character that shows off all its Sicilian sunshine. A spike of lime and black pepper gives it a real kick at the finish.

About this bottle: Grillo is the darling white grape of Sicily. For this wine it is harvested from chalky, sea-facing vineyards on the southwestern part of the island. Winemakers Carlo Caprarotta and Mattia Filippi put together their local knowledge and their love of the vivid, fresh whites of northern Italy, to create this wonderfully focussed, intense white that really takes a grip of the palate. It needs no oak embellishment, but gains richness from four months yeast contact after fermentation.
