The Romans first planted vines in this dry, mountainous area, and you feel little has changed since. Vines grow in a rustic scene surrounded by pines, cherry trees and olive groves.

About this bottle: Yecla lies in the mountainous north of Spain’s Murcia region, its vineyards at between 400 and 800 metres in a rugged, unspoilt area that sees vast extremes of temperature over the year. This wine is from the Castaño family’s unirrigated vineyards in the higher northern part of the DO.

About this bottle: Nero d’Avola is Sicily's number one red grape variety, famed for its rich, concentrated wines. The fruit for this wines was grown in organically farmed vineyards in the west of the island. Winemaker Stefano Chioccioli left the wine unoaked to show off the grapes’ quality.
