Checked Drawstring Waist Parka

Good quality coat bought in the sale at half price. Only downside is the size of the hood - it's enormous! Even a large head would be swamped by this, so I am torn between keeping a warm coat & ignoring the hood (it isn't detachable) or returning it. Please M & S consider these finer details.

This is a beautifully made coat but had to return as far the fit bit as very big could have gone down 1 maybe 2 sizes

I bought this for my daughter who sometimes could wear M&S size 12. As it was 50% off, I took a chance. Far too big in every way. I am 14 and it was a generous on me. A practical coat.

The moment I tried this black and white check parka on, I knew it would become a coat to treasure! The fit is very accurate and I find the padded lining and fur edged hood ideal for winter wear. I wore it in town yesterday and a person I didnt know stopped me and said “I like your coat” and her companion also praised it, to which I replied “It is from Marks and Spencer”. In two weeks I am joining a large family group in London for a theatre visit and of course I will be wearing my coat - proudly, thank you M & S.

Bought this with my Sparks 50% off:) Didn't have time to read reviews so ordered 14 & 16 while both sizes were in stock. So glad I did...The 16 ( my usual size) was massive and whilst the shoulders were a little large on the 14 it was the one I kept. Reviews all said go down a size. Reviews also say hood is homogenous...It is. But most are these days. I'll wear a woolly hat beneath mine. On returning the 16 to store I did try a 12 which did fasten up but in the end kept the 14:) The fabric is a soft material. Only down side...Could have done with chest zipped pockets.. Especially as it's described as parka style. Overall...Go down a size.

Was very disappointed with this coat, bought my usual coat size & it was far too big. I returned it.

I ordered a size 14 I think I could have got away with a size 12 but it as drawstring waist and I can wear jumpers under it so not to bad it is good quality and good value as I got it in the sale

Excellent value, even if I had not purchased it in the sale. Really warm although the fur trim could do with being a bit less ' hairy' as it does easily tickle one. Hood is very deep, which can make watching where one is walking a bit difficult when wearing the hood but it does keep the rain off! Brilliantly fulfills my requirements of a smart coat/ jacket to wear with trousers instead of an anorak I suspect it is so thick that it'll be showerproof, which is an added bonus. The drawstring round the waist enables some shape to be given to the coat if desired, although it would be even better if the toggles on the ends of the drawstring were the moveable sort. Overall, really delighted.

I had to return this jacket as it was more like a 14/16 than a 12. Disappointed as it was a warm coat and looked smart.
