Chamboreau Savennieres - Single Bottle

Sorry, this item is no longer available

Showing hints of honey and fig on the nose, the palate displays ripe, rich green fruits and is bone dry with high acidity adding freshness and balance.

This new and exciting domaine was created in 2005 by Loire fanatic Philippe Fournier. With 39 hectares based around Anjou in the Central Loire, the estate also benefits from the input of famous wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. Savennieres is one of the greatest but least known wines of France. Made entirely from the Chenin Blanc grape, this dry wine is capable of extended ageing and makes a great alternative to wines produced from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. The 2008 vintage was relatively cool and the fruit for the wine was picked by hand during three tries (passes) through the vineyard. Fermented with only natural yeasts, this organic wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation but was aged for 12 months in barrel prior to bottling.
