A fresh Portuguese white with luscious red apple and citrus fruit aromas backed by pineapple notes. In the mouth it is crisp and lemony, with tropical fruit flavours and a lingering mineral-tinged finish.
Portuguese winemaker Frederico Vilar Gomes founded Casca Wines in 2008, sourcing grapes from single-vineyard plots to craft wines that truly represent his homeland. Today, Frederico is chief winemaker of Companhia das Quintas, which operates to much the same philosophy, but on a less boutique scale. The grapes for this wine came from the vineyards of Casa de Pancas in the Alenquer region of Lisbon. Frederico blended the local varieties Arinto, Fernão Pires and Vital with aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, leaving the wine unoaked to highlight the quality of the fruit and unique characteristics of Western Portugal's terroir.
