THE PACK-LIGHT PANAMA

Successfully staying shaded needn’t be just about caps – with this foldable hat you can keep up your sartorial game wherever you go, says menswear editor Ian Wright

When the sun is shining but you want to stay looking sharp, a panama hat is the ideal sun-smart accessory. Panamas have a refined flair that recalls the stylish mid-century men of South America. Take your cues from these snappy dressers and pair the hat with light tailoring; it also looks great with linen shirts and trousers and will instantly elevate even the most casual outfits. Made from 100 per cent toquilla palm, the traditional leaf used since the panama was invented more than 300 years ago, this particular design has the added benefit of being able to fold or roll tightly, meaning it’ll slip in your suitcase easily and emerge the other side unscathed.
