THE CONTEMPORARY
CO-ORD
Cast aside images of dowdy twinsets – this season’s knitted separates are anything but boring
Simple, understated knitwear is always a wise investment, especially when it has the power to reboot your whole wardrobe. At first glance, it may look like a classic black dress but, in fact, this co-ord (translation from fashion speak: ‘co-ordinating outfit made up of separates’) consists of an elegant bell-sleeve jumper (not unlike another M&S jumper made famous by Meghan Markle in January 2018) and a flattering A-line skirt. It goes without saying that this outfit will see you through a host of occasions, from an important meeting at work to a dinner party, but the separates are also eminently versatile. Pair the jumper with jeans or smart trousers, and try the skirt styled with a crisp white shirt or a printed blouse for maximum mileage. And if black’s not for you, it also comes in on-trend nutmeg or animal-print options.
