THE CHELSEA BOUQUET
As the Chelsea Flower Show gets under way, what better way to honour this festival of flowers than with a glorious arrangement that’s bursting with colour, says Joanna Lumley
Nothing gives me more of a thrill than seeing the colour and texture of flowers, and feeling their leaves, petals and stems. I came to gardening fairly late in life as I’ve always lived in a flat. Now I’m lucky enough to have my own London garden and every morning, rain or shine, I walk barefoot to see how it grows, like Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. I adore all the old favourites and am especially enchanted by the heady scent of our native blooms. For 2015, M&S is showcasing the beauty of British flora with this special Chelsea bouquet. Combining seasonal Purple Sensation alliums grown by Lance Whittington with delicate stocks from family growers JA Collison & Sons, it’s a sumptuous celebration of an English country garden.
