THE WORLD’S BEST
WHITE WINE

When a wine is this good you need to call in the big guns to review it, which is why we’ve got the founder of matchingfoodandwine.com and contributing editor of Decanter Magazine, Fiona Beckett, to sing its praises

If Winbirri isn’t on your radar, it definitely should be. This Norfolk-based (yes, Norfolk, England) vineyard pulled off the accolade of world’s best white wine for its 2015 Bacchus when it won a Platinum Best in Show medal at this year’s Decanter wine awards. What’s Bacchus? Well, it’s probably the grape variety that England does best - a vibrant, citrussy white with a dash of passionfruit that hits the same pleasure spots as a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Enjoy it with anything from smoked salmon to Asian-style salads to garlicky grilled prawns. This wine is in short supply, so don’t miss your chance to taste a winner.
