GET SET
FOR SCHOOL

Whether they walk, cycle or catch a lift to school, our uniform helps kids arrive looking great

Walk the walk

According to Livingstreets.org.uk, a generation ago, 70 per cent of us walked to school; now that number is less than 50 per cent. And with more than one in five Reception-year kids and one in three Year-6 children considered overweight (National Statistics 2015/16), the UK charity’s vision is for every child who is able to walk to school safely to do so.

Our uniform makes this easier, with water-repellent and stain-resistant finishes on selected trousers, skirts, shorts, blazers and coats, which means they’ll stay clean and dry, come rain or shine.

All aboard!

Research shows that, understandably, parents (of primary-school kids, in particular) find it quicker, safer and more convenient to drive their kids to school. But with the school run a major cause of congestion and pollution, taking the bus (or train) is a great alternative.

Recent studies in Scandinavia even revealed that children who travel to school independently feel happier and less tired, and may even perform better in class.

Factor in school-appropriate M&S sportswear like scuff-resistant trainers and unisex tracksuit bottoms, and getting to school can now be part of the adventure.

Let’s ride

Our crease-resistant uniform – including selected shirts, polos, blazers, trousers and skirts – means whichever way they get to the gates, they’ll arrive crumple-free. Helpfully, our non-iron shirts, skirts and trousers will also save you time so you have extra minutes for the morning jaunt. Cycle-Smart, an organisation committed to promoting safe cycling, advises that when kids are cycling they wear helmets. Make sure yours have one ready to put on when they set off – the brighter the better to ensure they’ll be seen.
