WISH LIST

Breton stripes, the timeless trench, a high-impact maxi and more – London-based Fran Bacon, founder of style blog The Fashion Lift, shows you how to wear her autumn favourites

The colour-block sweater

Red is the colour of autumn/winter 2017 and there’s nothing more luxurious than a cashmere jumper – the perfect investment piece to add to your wardrobe. Wear with skirts and trousers for work, or dress it down at the weekend with jeans and trainers. It looks great paired with girly florals and flats – a dressed-up but comfortable look that is so easy to wear and makes you feel fantastic.

The glamorous maxi dress

It's been all about the dress this year and this one ticks all the boxes. It sits beautifully at the neckline and the slightly cinched-in waist creates curves in all the right places. Add a pair of very '2017' velvet ankle boots to give the dress a cool edge and you have a perfect party look.

The forever trench

I love wearing a trench with jeans and trainers; it smartens up a dressed-down look in a cool, unfussy way. This trench is a beautiful fit – neat at the shoulders and a flattering cut. I added a belt for structure and a matching leather bag to bring the look together. These Autograph zebra-print trainers add a fun twist to the outfit, and they’re so comfortable – like walking on air. Perfect for a busy lifestyle.

The classic Breton sweater

A Breton top is another timeless piece. For a Seventies vibe, I paired the stripes with cropped, flared jeans (insanely comfortable) and a pair of blue velvet boots – an easy-breezy look that can take you seamlessly from day to night. Or, for evening, I love mixing stripes with floral or leopard-print skirts for an eye-catching going-out look.
