From heritage-style wool blazers to cosy herringbone throws, the colder months give us the perfect excuse to layer up and enjoy the unique benefits of wool. The Campaign for Wool, patronised by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, encourages us to do just that - whilst also working hard to make sure farmers get a fair price for their wool.
As part of this year’s Wool Week, we’ve taken part in the Wool School initiative, which saw fashion, textiles and design students across the country compete to design wool sweaters to be sold by a variety of international retailers. Our budding knitwear designers came from the University of Leeds, and we couldn't be happier with the finished products.
1. Inspired by British coastal views, Molly Cormican from Middlesbrough won the best menswear design, fusing a traditional chunky knit with a contemporary colour fade.
2. Katherine Watson from Hereford won the best womenswear design with her ombré-effect jumper that utilises an intricate technique of intertwined coloured yarn.
