Les Ruettes Sauvignon Blanc 2010:
A tangy and delicious Loire Sauvignon with an attractive hint of the flinty minerality you would expect from a top notch Sancerre. Flavours of ripe apricot and dried herbs are matched by juicy acidity and a classic note of wet stone in this expressive and engaging unoaked dry white
ABOUT THIS WINE:
We have worked with the highly experienced Fabrice Robineau at Cave de Sancerre for many years now. So when we gave him a brief to create a 'Baby Brother' to sit alongside his superb Sancerre wines - always a real highlight in our range - we were fascinated to see what he came up with.
The result has surpassed all our expectations. This is a wine that not only offers delightfully clean fruit flavours and vibrant acidity but also a real sense of place, which is rare to find at this price level.
SERVING:
Given its moderate level of alcohol and lovely balance of fruit and mineral flavours, this wine works equally well as a refreshing aperitif or when served with dishes such as warm goat's cheese salad or king prawn tempura.

Macon Villages Francois Martenot 2011:
Lovely white wine with citrus, vanilla, hazelnut and honeysuckle flavours, and mouthwatering zesty acidity. This white has French poise and elegance and the finish lingers in a beguilingly butterscotch way.
ABOUT THIS WINE: Chardonnay thrives on the limestone slopes of the Mâconnais region within Burgund, loving the mineral soils that the Gamay grape (the other favourite grape in this area) loathes. This white undergoes a gentle, cool fermentation to temper the natural exuberance common in these sunny southern Burgundy whites. And it needs no oak-ageing to enhance its fine natural flavours.
SERVING:
This wine's nut, citrus and honey characters are great to pair with caramelized duck breast, or a game paté, or pork rillettes. It'll really bring depth to complex, rich dishes, and make a great match for the Christmas turkey or roast goose too.

Fleurie La Parisienne 2011:
Lovely berry fruits on the nose, followed by sweet vanilla, bramble and raspberry; this has all the brightness of cheery classic Beaujolais. But there's an extra level of sophistication to this wine: a thread of dark blueberry and liquorice intensity alongside a light but supportive tannin structure.
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Grown on Limestone soils, in the Beaujolais region between Mâcon and Lyon, the well-exposed slopes around Fleurie give rise to wines that are naturally lively and fruity, but with a potential for finesse and elegance too. Winemaker Joëlle Cugney selects venerable 25 to 30-year-old Gamay vines to give her wine extra depth and boldness of character. Their grapes are hand-harvested with the utmost care.
SERVING:
Delicious to pair with meaty starters like confit pork, smoked duck and pomegranate, or pigeon in red wine on bruschetta. Or let its berry flavours really shine and serve with a platter of salami and cold meats.

Manzanos Rioja Crianza 2008:
Lovely pure-fruited red, dense and concentrated, powerfully structured right to the finish. Expect blackcurrant and berries, blueberry and smokey violet notes with a twist of oaky, spicy barrel-tannins at the edge. This is full-bodied red Rioja with great gravitas and presence, and a real emphasis on powerful fruit.
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Thirty-two year old winemaker Borja Ripa is blazing a trail in Rioja with his own brand of powerful red wines. Borja sources the fruit for this young Rioja from the finest Rioja Baja vineyards, macerates the wine on its grape skins for 21 days, and matures it in American and French oak barrels for 18 months. Its wonderful intensity of fruit is testament to the age of vines chosen, some of which are over 50 years old.
SERVING:
Try this rich, intense red with rare roast lamb, rare fillet steak, or nut-crusted lamb cutlets. It's great partner for meaty venison or ostrich steaks too. Warming winter meals like smoked loin of venison with beetroot tarte tatin make a great pairing!
