Venetian blinds perfect for a bathroom or kitchen
Whether you are choosing the sleek simplicity of a roller blind or opting for a smart Roman blind for a sophisticated feel, blinds add another dimension to a decorative scheme, as well as increasing privacy and controlling light. You can even consider combining blinds with curtains to bring an added layer of interest to the space. Our made to order service ensures that you can choose a style to perfectly suit your window and your room scheme.
Roman blinds hang flat when closed and form soft pleats when raised. The pleats are created by dowel rods that are sewn into casings in the lining of the blind; they are operated with a cording mechanism attached to the back of the blind, which enables it to be lowered or raised.
Roller blinds are created using fabric that has been specially stiffened. The fabric simply rolls up on to a tube when operated with a control chain, giving a sleek, simple effect. Our control chains come in a choice of 3 colours: nickel, white and gold-effect.
Venetian blinds feature horizontal slats that can be tilted, raised or lowered so that you can effectively control how much light is let into the room. Available in both wood and metal slats, our Venetian blinds come in five slat widths: 16mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm and 64mm.
It is crucial to take the right measurements to ensure that your blinds fit perfectly when they are installed. Our simple instructions show you how to provide us with accurate measurements for a polished, professional result.
For ease and to ensure accuracy, it is advisable to measure with the help of another person, and always use a metal tape measure, as fabric or plastic tape may stretch. If you have a number of windows, measure each one separately, even if they appear to be the same size, and always double check all your measurements.
When ordering, remember to specify clearly whether your measurements are in centimetres or inches.
Blinds can sit either inside or outside a window recess. Before taking measurements, you need to choose which option you prefer.
Make sure that the recess is not obstructed in any way and is at least 7.5cm deep to accommodate the operating mechanism.
Measure the width of the recess (a-b). Check the width at the top and the bottom of the window in case the window is not perfectly even – you will need to provide us with the narrowest measurement. For Roman blinds only, subtract 1.5cm from this width measurement to allow the blind to fit into the recess.
Measure the drop from the top to the bottom of the recess (c-d).
Decide how far you want the fabric to overlap the recess – this is generally a minimum of 5cm on all four sides.
Measure the width plus the overlap (e-f).
Measure the drop from the top to the bottom of the window plus the overlap (g-h).
