A wonderfully soft and seductive Australian Shiraz that is medium bodied and packed full of juicy blackcurrant fruit. A touch of oak has added complexity and creamy depth to the supple tannins and refreshing acidity of this ripe, peppery red.
Experienced winemaker Gary Compton is a man who likes his wines to be elegant and enticing rather than obvious. This ethos comes through vividly in this lively, spicy red which shows a delightful lightness of touch. Gary has added a little Petit Verdot and Viognier for extra black pepper and floral complexity in this gracefully constructed blend. He also used American oak to give the wine a subtle note of vanilla cream that beautifully complements the spice of the Shiraz fruit.

Shiraz (Syrah) is a delicate grape packed with flavour and joie-de-vivre and the Australians have exploited its capabilities to the full. Red Block has taken over as my favourite (from the excellent Burra Brook) because of its understated elegance. It is soft and fruity and smooth on the tongue and palate. Its bouquet greets the nose like a dear old friend and it leave the drinker satisfied, yet wanting more. I have shared this wine with a number of people and have heard only praise from them. Highly recommended.

First M&S wine I threw away
No, I don't recommend this
I bought this wine as part of a New World Red MIxed Case. The other wines were fine but this was thin and sugary with an unpleasant after taste. I threw most of it away. Fortunately I only have one other bottle to get rid of. I have been ordering M&S wine direct now for over a year and this is the first disappointing bottle. Confirmed my opinion that it's best to avoid mixed cases as there is always a dud that is being included to keep the price down and be disposed of.

Poorest wine purchase in a long time

I found this wine to be thin and not representative of an Aussie Shiraz in the £10 price range . The description of the Red Block Shiraz is so wide of the mark that it must be talking about a different wine. I would never buy this wine again & M & S have a no return policy on wine so i'm stuck with a with the rest of the case.
