Making sure our food is safe
Food safety is an issue close to our customers' hearts and minds, and one we take very seriously. It's also a broad topic. After all, as well as physical safety and testing for types of bacteria or chemical, there are allergens to look out for, and questions to be raised about the rearing of animals and the growing of crops that become our ingredients.
Well, the good news for customers is that everything we sell is our own brand. This means we have complete control over how our foods are created, and how they reach our stores. The starting point is carefully managing our suppliers and maintaining close relationships with them, to help them keep to our own high standards of quality and safety. To add to this we have over 70 qualified food professionals who are specialists in their own areas, who oversee our product information systems as well as our regular product testing programmes. We also employ external experts when needed.
