Our dedicated grower Bernard Sparkes is Britain’s top tomato expert. He has used his 30 years’ of experience to pick the best variety of vine tomatoes from over two thousand trials. Bernard discovered Jester tomatoes, with their sweet, full flavour and striking green calyx, in the Far East. They are now grown exclusively for us in Lancashire.
Nectar tomatoes were developed exclusively for us on the Isle of Wight and are grown specially for their sweet, honeyed flavour and thin delicate skin.

We’ve been working with our potato grower on the island of Jersey for more than 25 years, so we know we’re always getting the pick of the crop.

John Perchard's family started supplying M&S with Jersey Royal potatoes over 25 years ago. The family farm, which is called ‘La Ferme’, is a mixed farm including a dairy with a pedigree herd of Jersey cows. Traditionally the Jersey Royal and the Jersey cow have complemented one another very well ensuring the rich Jersey soil is kept at its best.
