Château Haut Courreau - Case of 6

Sorry, this item is no longer available

Red Bordeaux with a lovely classic profile. Rich blackcurrant characters, brambley acidity and firm tannins make a bracing supporting act at the finish. This red does all it should do, lingering and lasting on the palate, with lively fruit and plenty of structure.

Winemaker Denis Lecourt has been the owner of Château Haut Courreau in Genissac, Bordeaux, since 1980. He owns 47 acres of vines, from which he chooses 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc for this fabulously structured blend. The supple intensity of fruit given by these stately 30-year old vines means that Denis needs to use no oak for maturation.

Not the best, maybe the worst

No, I don't recommend this

A cheap wine and it tastes like a very cheap wine, poor value. Just slug it back with an Indian meal.

A strong red

Yes, I recommend this

Other reviews mentioned the amount of sediment but I didn't find this to be an insurmountable problem. The taste took some getting used to as it was a bit dry and bitter at first for me but went on to enjoy it although not as much as other Bordeaux reds from M&S.

Grand Vin that lives up to its name

Yes, I recommend this

Chateau Haut Coorreau is a very decent, almost full-on red with a fruity and lingering taste. You won't be disappointed and at this price it's excellent value. Well worth treating yourself!

Better than expected!

Yes, I recommend this

I note some reviewers were unhappy with the "sediment". You can often expect many of the better aged Bordeauxs to have sediment. With this wine, it is not so much sediment as a few crystals - nothing to be concerned about. Overall a better than average Bordeaux.

Good value for money?

Yes, I recommend this

I purchased this wine at a very reasonaqble price, I would have been disappointed if I had paid the full amount, the wine was very palatable however, there was a great deal of sediment/cork in 4 out of the 6 bottles.

A good Bordeaux

Yes, I recommend this

So many Bordeaux's and many average wines. This one live's up to it's billing. Don't be put off by the sediment. Good colour and flavour from the off that just gets better as it opens up. Very enjoyable and good value.

Excellent Purchase

Yes, I recommend this

Don't let the other reviews put you off. This is smooth and yummy and I have purchased it now on 2 separate occasions. Great value and lovely velvety taste. The sediment can easily be removed from around the neck of the bottle and has no one heard of decanting?

Corked

No, I don't recommend this

The first two bottles I opened were corked(not experieced this for a long time)so had to take them back to the nearest store. No problem getting a refund but when I got home wondered whether I should have at least asked for my delivery charge back if not compensation for the inconvenience.
