My son is a board shouldered 4 year old and I bought the 5-6 age, the longer length fit is great especially across the shoulders with the added bonus of the length. I bought the regular length too (again in the 5-6 age) and they are going back as they are much smaller across the shoulder.

My son who has only just turned 11 has an athletic build so I bought the next size up (12-13) but this was still too narrow across the shoulders/chest. So I ended up with the size 13-14. I have always had this problem with M and S (trousers are a waste of time if your son is athletic - even the generous fit!) that said, if you can get the right size the quality is superb.

The longer length shirts great for my 2 tall boys 7 and 11, however surely a child of 7-8 is capable of doing up their top buttons? Velcro? both my boys at 5yrs soon learnt to do their buttons, they had too! I feel on principle these shirts have to go back. I'm not prepared to regress. How are they ever going to learn!

Very happy that M&S offer shirts in longer length for boys school uniform. A good fit for my tall son. Also need to buy longer length trousers, but unfortunately they are all out of stock in every size!

Perfectly reasonable school shirts but why so much unnecessary packaging? The girls shirts have much less and given M&S pride themselves on reducing waste I am amazed at the amount if plastic and card in these... 3 different pieces in the collar alone!
